The Trailblazers is a program for parents and son/daughters in the 4th through 8th grade. The program is a continuation of the Indian Guides program, however, you do not have to have been in the Indian Guides program to participate. You can join anytime. To register, simply contact the Santa Clarita Valley Family YMCA. You can also download an application form here. Financial assistance is always available.
The YMCA Trailblazers program is a continuation for older children of the YMCA YGuides program. The Trailblazers offers children in fourth through eighth grades more challenging and varied experiences, while teaching leadership and responsibility.
The Trailblazers will meet once a month in a member's home, where the kids will assume the planning, organization and operation of the meeting. Parents will assist in training their children to lead and ensure the overall success. Meetings consist of planning events, setting goals, collecting dues for outings and activities and discussing service projects for their community.
Service to the community and to the YMCA is an important aspect of the Trailblazer program. Once a month, the Trailblazer Council will host an event such as rock climbing, tree planting, bike rides, campouts and water rafting trips.
Through all of these activities and events, Trailblazers help strengthen the family and foster the relationship between parent and child. Now that you've graduated from Y-Guides, Y-Princesses, Y-Maidens or Y-Braves, are you ready for some Big Kid's stuff?
